About Don Eli Double Washed | Costa Rica
This is a bespoke micro-lot that we helped to process and is based on a method of producing washed coffee that we've found to be common in Rwanda and Kenya but seldom found in central and south America.
Coffee was hand-harvested from trees at high altitudes on the farm located at 1900-2000masl. This is one of the highest farms in Costa Rica and benefits from fantastic soil and a stable climate.
Coffee was fermented over night and in the morning pulped to remove the outer layer of fruit. It was then fermented in a large tank for 24 hours. After fermentation the coffee was washed with cold spring water and once clean fermented again in cold water over night.
This process has created a fantastic washed coffee with tasting notes that include plum, date and brown sugar. -

Don Eli micro-mill
The Don Eli micro mill is owned by the Moneterro family and is located between San Marco and Santa Maria, Tarrazu. We've been working directly with the Moneterro family for over 5 years. They process incredible coffees from their farms at the Don Eli Micro.
Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Costa Rican farmers are known for their tendency to experiment with various post harvest processing method and for planting rare and interesting coffees, such as SL-28 and Geisha. We've been buying our Costa Rican coffees direct from the same producers for several years with the help of Selva coffee.
a very good coffee
I really hope we see something like this again, because this now out of stock coffee was our absolute favourite thing to drink. I know I'll love anything that says "red apple" and this is no exception: gentle, crisp sweet apple acidity (not at all acidic, for those like me who don't like sharpness), a rich and really special unctuousness in the mid body (the date notes mentioned), and the barest hint of deep milk chocolate bitterness (soft and not harsh). Spectacular. Sad to see it go!
I’m yet to be disappointed by any of the coffee From Horsham, surely best in class.
Extremely; sweet and clean Costa Rican
Clean washed beans from Costa Rica, very recommended for filter coffee, hot and cold.
